The full news release can be found here.
August 1, 2017 – OntarioMD's EMR Certification Program is now accepting new EMR product entrants. Vendor's wishing to obtain EMR certification for their EMR product should review the details of the process for EMR Validation.
July
4, 2017 - As of August 1st, 2017, Certification for
Primary Care EMR offerings will be open to new entrants not previously
certified.
Unlike previous certification
opportunities, the period through which new entrants can apply for
certification will not be time limited. OntarioMD is moving to an “Open”
Certification model which will enable new entrants to apply at any time.
EMR offerings that are currently certified
will remain certified subject to their ongoing alignment to the applicable EMR
Specification(s) and their obligations under the current EMR Certification
Agreement.
Historically, OntarioMD's EMR Certification
Program was focused on enabling the adoption of EMR technology by physicians.
Now, with over 14,000 physicians using an EMR certified by OntarioMD, the focus
has shifted from adoption to optimization, including access to provincial EHR
Solutions and Services, enhanced tooling, data migration and the exchange of
information with EMRs. OntarioMD has subsequently been working on evolving its
EMR Certification Program to better align with these objectives. While the
familiar components will remain: specifications, validation, certification and
compliance, emphasis will shift to optimization. New opportunities for EMR
products to be certified by OntarioMD in the Ontario EMR landscape will be
available later this year.
More details on our EMR Certification
Program will be published shortly.
